Editing in Beijing

We’ve all seen the ridiculous wording, grammar, and punctuation mistakes that happen with translation; what’s bad is when these show up in places that should know better.  This picture is from a Starbucks here in Beijing, and it makes me slightly disappointed to see such a poorly-written English sign in a big-wig corporation location.  You’d think that they would be able to hire someone to read over these things before laminating and posting them.

This is exactly what I’m here to do: edit corporate projects and documents before they are seen by the general public.  I am here to make sure your corporation is putting its best foot forward with all of its English-language text.  If this sounds like something you’re interested in, contact me today!

Blogging on Expat Life

I am one of the main contributors to a blog about being an expatriate in Beijing.  You can see the blog here.  This is a post I write about finding English books in Beijing, and this is one on experiencing the World Cup games in Beijing.

Behind-the-Scenes Story on the Radio

Check out this story that originally aired on the radio back in Eau Claire, Wisconsin but now lives on as a podcast edition of the Local Independence radio program.  I was fortunate enough to be able to shadow a friend who works in the soap opera business for a day, getting a fascinating look inside a world I had, up until that point, known amazingly little about.  It’s easy to forget how enjoyable it is as an author to read your own work aloud.
